An alternative to the traditional pub has opened in Stoke Newington – and without a bar! Focusing on tea, both alcoholic cocktail infusions, and not, the Stoke Newington Tea House will display types of tea, beer, wine and tea-infused cocktails on vaulted bookcases in the pub, and not behind a bar. Choose from over 100 types of tea, with six fresh infusions taking centre stage each day.

Ever since the Olympics left us, the site of the Olympic Park has been transformed and is a hotbed for new venues and restaurants. Signorelli Bakery opened recently, with wonderful Italian food and aperitivo. There is also a Bottle Apostle, the wine shop, and now, the first of the fully fledged restaurants: Darkhorse, with modern European food of all types, and a ‘wine cave’ for afters.

A new American-style joint in a disused petrol station on Shoreditch High Street! Expect neon, metalwork and plenty of halogen bulbs – this might be a diversion from Route 66, but the US-style late night eating culture will be the same.
