Excel London’s Elizabeth line station is a step nearer to completion

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at Excel London last month, to mark the next step in the completion of the venue’s onsite Elizabeth line station, located next door to the DLR at Custom House.

Marking the occasion, CEO, David Pegler, and Chairman, Kevin Murphy OBE, were joined by the Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales and TFL Commissioner, Mike Brown.

Services will commence on the Elizabeth line in December 2018 and are set to make Excel London one of the best connected venues in the world, with access from Heathrow to the venue in 43-minutes.

As David Pegler, CEO, Excel London, explains: “The opening of the Elizabeth line will be truly transformational for our clients and the millions of exhibitors, visitors and delegates who we welcome each year. The line will provide a direct service to Central London, reducing journey times and allowing visitors to access the whole of the city quickly and easily. It will provide an ‘events super highway’ linking the world’s busiest airport at Heathrow to Excel London in 43-minutes. In between, visitors will be able to access the very best of what London has to offer, with access to more hotels, Michelin starred restaurants and world renowned theatre and shopping, all within record time. We look forward to working with our clients to open up the benefits of Elizabeth line in the build-up to 2018 and beyond.”

With 12 trains set to run every hour, at peak time, Elizabeth line journey times from Excel London will be:

  • Canary Wharf - 3 minutes
  • Liverpool Street - 10 minutes
  • Farringdon - 12 minutes
  • Tottenham Court Road - 15 minutes
  • Bond Street - 17 minutes
  • Paddington - 20 minutes
