The conference included sharing cutting edge research, high profile expert speakers and specific content to attract a primary care audience, a key success factor for improving the lives of people with diabetes.
The event hosted six named lectures, the launch of Diabetes UK’s report on the impact of research and its dietary guidelines, a 5k run and workouts with 100 participants, a primary care course, pre-event meetings for Young Diabetologists and Endocrinologist Forum and the Insider event. The Insider event was a way of bringing information from the main conference to people living with diabetes.
Therese Dolan, senior events manager, Diabetes UK said, “I think the Insider was the stand-out success this year. It was completely new territory for us and it went better than we could have hoped for. With a combination of an extremely impressive programme of eminent speakers not usually accessible to a lay audience and launching the event in London, we were able to promote the event to a large catchment area. That allowed us to produce something that felt important to the diabetes community, though that does mean we’ve set the bar extremely high for whatever we do next year.”
