The economic impact for the UK, with an influx of new events, should not be underestimated and I am enormously proud that the events hosted at Excel contribute £2.9 billion in economic impact and support 31,000 jobs.
So far this year, we have welcomed a wide variety of world leading events to Excel from Bett, ICE Totally Gaming, Infrarail and Grand Designs Live to the Adobe Summit, Salesforce World Tour and EULAR (European League Against Rheumatism).
Or newly launched Excel London Hospitality brand brought two well-known resaturants to the show floor last month. At the Adobe Summit, delegates enjoyed dinner at a pop-up version of Tom’s Kitchen; whilst at Grand Designs Live Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage was brought to life.
Behind these great innovations is our award winning Executive Chef, James Buckley, who has recently won the prestigious Craft Guild of Chef’s Banqueting & Event Chef Award. The awards recognise the crème de la crème of the UK chef industry and are voted for by fellow industry peers.
We are delighted to welcome Paul Brindley to our Executive Team in the role of Executive Director – EVS (Excel Venue Services). Paul has most recently worked as Business Development Director with Travelex developing their commercial scope across 98 airports.
As our attention turns towards Rio for the first Olympic and Paralympic Games since 2012, London continues to invest, especially in new transport and hotel infrastructure. The best example of this is undoubtedly the new Elizabeth line (Crossrail).
From 2018, when the Elizabeth line opens, London will be the best connected city in the world, with unrivalled transport connections. It will be a fantastic enabler for events allowing people to move around the city in record time, including travelling direct to Excel from Heathrow in 43-minutes.
With a commitment from us and our service partners to provide commercial certainty and value there has never been a better time to consider London for your next event.
I look forward to welcoming you to Excel London soon.
