This iconic nine day exhibition was conceived as a 3D experience for viewers and readers of the TV show and magazine of the same name. The event showcases the latest innovations in home renovations and build under one roof. Although a consumer show with typically high percentage of the 96,264 visitors coming over the weekends, the week days attract committed self-builders interested in dedicating time and effort to scoping and specifying their project.
Grand Designs Live has a unique and impactful entrance. Wayfinding is unique with sign posting to specific interests within the event. The spaces in the venue allow for a tunnel at the entrance leading to a bar, the central arrival hub from where visitors are directed to one of four shows, Grand Build, Grand Interiors, Grand Kitchens and Bathrooms and Grand Gardens.
In 2019 highlights of the exhibition included a design competition for solutions to using the under the stairs space with 8 shortlisted concepts being showcased. The winner was announced during the show. The Upcycling Hub was an area where visitors watched demos and unique pieces were available to purchase.

Kevin McCloud, presenter of the TV show, is a ubiquitous presence at the exhibition. To celebrate its 20th anniversary special guests from Kevin's top 20 homes were invited to talk about their projects on the live in-hall stage.
The Ask an Expert feature is among the most popular aspects of the show. 30 minute consultations with construction experts from planning and interior design, to finance and architecture were available to book on line prior to the show. To encourage dwell time, in-hall catering outlets are integrated into the floor plan design including a table service restaurant. Excel London Hospitality was instrumental in establishing an offer and designs to meet the requirements of the visitor demographic.
