The ESC Congress is the world’s largest and most influential cardiovascular event and Europe’s largest medical congress. The event contributes to the global awareness of the latest clinical trials and breakthrough discoveries.
To raise the profile of cardiovascular disease (the single biggest killer in the UK, 1 in 3 people die as a result of cardiovascular disease) to support ESC’s mission of reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe.
In 2012, Excel announced that London would be the host city for ESC 2015. In the years building up to the event, the venue continued to make multi-million pound investments to enhance and improve the experience for delegates, with a specific focus on ESC. Innovations included upgrades to complimentary Wi-Fi, a refurbishment of the venue’s meeting rooms and a brand new retail and catering experience.
During the 8-day build, which occupied all of Excel’s 100,000 sqm, the venue welcomed almost 500 contractors, set-out 20,000 chairs, installed over 600 graphics, put together 23,000 lunch bags and prepared for over 1,000 onsite functions.
