Visitor experience

At Excel London our passion is delivering great guest experiences. We are committed to ensuring that every event is truly memorable and the experience from the moment someone arrives to the moment they leave is second to none.

It's all about the detail:

We know that people’s experience of the venue has a role to play in the success of the event.  We use our guest insight, feedback from organisers and wider customer experience trend data to review how we can strive for even better results.

This is the reason we continuously invest in our facilities. From the latest technology to creating a warm welcome to serving a variety of locally sourced, delicious food, we want to ensure that every detail is covered.

People expect fast connectivity wherever they are. With events more technology-enabled than ever, resilient high-speed Wi-Fi is essential to a positive event experience. We’ve partnered with market leader Ruckus Networks, upgrading to the latest Wi-Fi standard (Wi-Fi 5), increasing the number of concurrent users (client devices) to 100,000, an increase of 300%.

Guest insight results demonstrate that the arrival experience has a direct correlation with the guests’ rating of the event itself. We commissioned Biotecture, the UK's leading living wall company, to create a sustainable, hydroponic structure, to run from Custom House Station to the entrance of the venue. The living wall, made up of over 9,500 plants not only creates a warm welcome but helps to remove air pollutants, improve biodiversity, produce oxygen, and decrease noise.

Most visitors to the venue have a heightened awareness of the harmful impact that waste and particularly plastic can have on the environment. To encourage and support visitors’ efforts to reduce single use plastic waste we’ve installed water fountains and launched a #NoPlastic campaign. This has so far has seen over 200,000 bottles of water refilled and reused.

But our facilities are only part of the story. What really lies at the heart of Excel is our people. Everyone who works at Excel is united by a common purpose, to work together, every day, to deliver great guest experiences. We genuinely care about what our clients want to achieve and will work in partnership with them to deliver their goals.

“Next summer London will become the first city to jointly host the World ParaAthletics Championships and IAAF World Championships London 2017 in the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium. We will also welcome the IAAF to London for their congress. All the key decision makers in track and field from across the globe will be present for what will undoubtedly be a highly significant event for the world of athletics. It was important that we could provide a top class conference facility in a fitting environment so we are delighted that their congress will take place at Excel.”

Niels de Vos

Director, London 2017 Championships

“London has been a fantastic host city and Excel, based on feedback by participants, has delivered the best layout the congress has ever had. It is evident that the delegates have enjoyed being at the venue. A congress can’t work unless the city, the venue and the organiser work in partnership and I’m delighted that the partnership between ESC, London & Partners and Excel has been so strong.”

Isabel Bardinet

CEO, European Society of Cardiology

“Excel and London & Partners have done an outstanding job in providing all the key elements required for making Sibos successful. The overall coordination between venue, city and representatives of the financial industry was truly impressive. We look forward to bringing Sibos to the financial heart of Europe for the first time — and to making it a great experience for our entire community.”

Sven Bossu

Head of Sibos at SWIFT

“We've run the Adobe Summit EMEA at Excel for 4 years. During this time we have developed an excellent relationship with the Excel event staff. They understand how we operate and what we need. They contribute to the success of the event not just by the effective way they react to the challenges but by being proactive. And they very much work with us as part of our team. As a venue, Excel works perfectly for us in that its flexibility allows us to scale easily. Between the Summits of 2015 and 2016, we required 40% more space due to increased delegate numbers."
